Dragon Racing has confirmed that Sebastien Bourdais and Katherine Legge will drive for the team in 2012.
Having not had a full-time IndyCar drive in recent years, the signing marks the permanent return to American single-seater racing for the pair.
The Jay Penske-owned team will compete with Lotus engines.
Bourdais, the four-time Champ Car champion and recent winner at the Armor All Gold Coast 600, drove a part-season last year with Dale Coyne Racing. He has not raced full-time in America since 2007.
Legge has contested two Champ Car seasons (2006 with PKV and 2007 with Dale Coyne Racing). She has spent the last three years as part of Audi’s DTM squad.
Group Lotus Director of Motorsport Claudio Berro confirmed its partnership with Dragon Racing.
“We are very pleased to be able to announce this new and exciting partnership with Dragon Racing,” Berro said.
“Dragon is a team which has demonstrated its potential and which we believe will achieve great success thanks to the Lotus IndyCar engine and the security of a major backer.”
