Tekno Autosports has enlisted former Mobil 1 HSV Racing boss Adrian Burgess in a consultancy capacity for this weekend’s Wilson Security Sandown 500.
Burgess has returned to the Supercars paddock for the first time since his departure from the team principal role at the Walkinshaw operation in May.
Tekno has confirmed to Speedcafe.com that the Englishman, who continues to be based in Melbourne, will offer assistance to the Queensland operation for the opening round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.
It is understood Burgess’ consultancy position could continue for the remaining rounds of the endurance season.
The team has also told Speedcafe.com that reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Jonathon Webb will partner Will Davison at Sandown.
Webb has been tight-lipped on his Pirtek Enduro Cup plans this year electing not to commit to the drive until the week of the race.
Tekno Autosports has since put out a statement further clarifying Burgess’ role this weekend.
“Tekno Autosports will be joined by renowned Supercars Team Manager Adrian Burgess at the Sandown 500 for Round 10 of the Supercars Championship this weekend,” read a statement from the team.
“A member of the Supercars paddock since 2008, Burgess made the move to Australian Motorsport following stints in Formula 1.
“Burgess will be joining Tekno in a consultancy role for the weekend, and will bring his knowledge and experience to compliment the team at the first Round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.
“Tekno team owner Jonathon Webb has also confirmed that he will be driving alongside Will Davison at the Sandown 500, and following Enduro Cup Rounds.”
