In a bombshell move, NASCAR ace Carl Edwards is to announce the end of his driving career.
Joe Gibbs Racing will confirm the retirement at a press conference later today (US time).
It is expected that his replacement in the #19 Toyota will be Xfinity Series champion Daniel Suarez.
Edwards has managed to compile an impressive record since taking the step into NASCAR's top series in 2004 with 28 wins, 22 poles and 220 top 10s from 445 starts.
The closest he came to winning the NASCAR Championship was in 2011 when he tied with Tony Stewart however was beaten on a countback based on the most wins during the season.
Edwards was in a position to win the Sprint Cup last year before finishing fourth in the points after a late race crash at Homestead.
