Fullwood wins Darwin finale to sweep Mustang Cup debut
Bryce Fullwood swept the Darwin round of Mustang Cup Australia in his series debut.

Darwin local Fullwood led home series leader Josh Anderson by 3.13s having taken the lead inside the opening 15 minutes.

The former Supercars full-timer was forced to work for the win in the early laps, with Anderson making it difficult for Fullwood to get by.

The pair came together at Turn 1, making side-to-side contact which damaged the side skirt of Anderson’s machine.

Fullwood took the lead a handful of laps later and never relinquished.

In an almost perfect weekend, Fullwood topped five of six sessions.

He led the way in both practice sessions and won both races, however only took one of two pole positions, admitting that he was outperformed in Sunday morning qualifying.

Brock Stinson capped off a solid series debut to round out the podium in the HMO Customer Racing entry.

Anderson took the lead from the front row when Joe Fawcett was slow to react at the start, plummeting from pole position to sixth in the long run to Turn 1.

Fawcett fought back across the 40-minute duration to finish fourth, while Triple Eight junior Oli Wickham came home in fifth.

Jack Perkins came home in sixth behind his teammate, with Josh Trappett in seventh.

Imogen Radburn bounced back from a difficult Race 1 to finish eighth, ahead of Matt Kiss in ninth.

Ben Dunn took the honours in the Dark Horse Legends class, rounding out the top 10.

John Goodacre fell backwards at the start, recovering to come home in 11th, with Keith Kassulke in 12th.

Mustang Cup Australia returns at Sydney Motorsport Park on September 18-20 for the next round of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

Territory Tourers

Steve Johnstone took victory in Race 2 aboard the Holden Racing Team-inspired Improved Production VP Commodore.

A DNF in Race 1 saw Johnstone start at the rear, carving through the field in the opening laps to quickly take the lead.

Ross Salmon led the opening laps, but a mechanical issue took him out of contention.

Geoff Cowie came home second to take Commodore Cup honours over Shane Smith by just 0.04s.

Connor Kroonstuiver took victory in the Hyundai Excel class in a close battle with Aleeanz Voltz and Noah Grosser.

Peter Anderson took victory in the HQ Holden category.

Johnstone took the win in Race 3 to sweep Sunday, coming home 4.4s ahead of Ling after a late Commodore Cup battle.

Voltz bounced back to take the Hyundai Excel honours, while Anderson took the win in the HQ class despite a late spin.
