New Toll Holden Racing Team signing James Courtney says that the factory team could be his final home in V8 Supercars.
The recently-crowned V8 Supercars Champion was confirmed as Garth Tander’s team-mate for the 2011 V8 season and wants to remain a HRT driver until the end of his driving days.
The Gold Coast-based driver has signed a three-year agreement with the Toll HRT and will move his young family to Melbourne in the coming months.
He is getting his first taste of a current Toll HRT Commodore VE at Phillip Island in the team’s end-of-season ride day today.
Courtney told Speedcafe.com.au that signing a three-year deal shows his intentions of staying with the team for a long period.
“It’s good to have consistency there and it shows Holden’s faith that I can deliver,” he said.
“I haven’t come here just to do it for three years. I see it as a long-term thing for me and try and develop the team. I hope that Garth and I can have a long-standing partnership.
“I’d be happy to see out the end of my career here. It’s the iconic team. It’s the top team. There’s no one who holds more credibility than these guys. To be linked with them and so heavily with the manufacturer and Holden, it’s a great opportunity. I’m grabbing it with both hands and I’m running with it.”
