Walkinshaw Racing is testing at Winton today without two of its star drivers, James Courtney and Russell Ingall.
The three-car outfit has been reduced to two for the day following the accident that destroyed James Courtney’s car at Phillip Island.
The Melbourne-based team is building up its spare chassis, WR 020, for the Sydney season finale next month.
Courtney limped away from the Phillip Island wreckage relatively unharmed but is undergoing further medical assessment this week.
Ingall meanwhile has been left out of the test as the team runs through development items for 2014.
Walkinshaw-contracted driver Nick Percat is instead at the wheel of the Supercheap Auto Holden.
Percat is being linked to a potential fourth car at Walkinshaw Racing next season alongside the HRT entries of Courtney, Garth Tander and new signing Tim Slade.
Tander took the HRT’s third race win of the season on Saturday at Phillip Island having made the most of a mid-race clash between Craig Lowndes and Mark Winterbottom.
Tander sits sixth in the standings heading to Sydney with Courtney ninth and Ingall 15th.
Walkinshaw customer Tony D’Alberto Racing is also at Winton today for the test.
D’Alberto endured a shocking run at Phillip Island, suffering engine problems in both of Sunday’s races, and is now 18th in the standings.
Others in action at Winton today include Marcus Zukanovic’s Dunlop Series outfit Action Racing, which has purchased the ex-Ford Performance Racing Falcon previously campaigned by Evans Motorsport.
Dan Day Racing is meanwhile enjoying a handover day with Walkinshaws, taking delivery of the VE Commodore that Percat campaigned in the 2012 Dunlop Series.
Day raced in the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series this year and will graduate to the second-tier class with its new car.
