Australian James Davison has cracked his first win in the Pirelli World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama.
Following a messy end to the race with a late caution, Davison won the 50-minute race in the #33 NISMO AE Nissan GT Academy Nissan GT-R GT3 in a total race time of 52:9.24s.
With under two minutes remaining Joseph Toussaint spun his Porsche 911 GT3 on the final turn, bringing out a full course caution.
Davison dominated the race from pole position, beating Nick Catsburg (Lamborghini Gallardo FL2), supplying Nissan its initial win in the PWC.
“Obviously I qualified on pole and won the race so it was a pretty good day,” said Davison.
“It doesn't get much better. I'm just really pleased for the whole team.
“When you get a big opportunity like this with a manufacturer as a driver, when you're expected to perform, you have to perform.
“Win and a pole six races into the year, it adds some confidence.”
