Luke Dillon took out Round 8 of the World Series Sprintcars in Lismore, New South Wales, after a contentious pass on Brooke Tatnell in the main race.
The duo staged a thrilling duel for much of the event, which Tatnell later claimed was decided by an ‘out of bounds’ overtake.
“I passed the lapped car on the outside and as he (Dillon) came through on the inside I got showered with dirt and dust as we came off Turn 4 onto the main straight,” he said.
“The only way you can kick up dirt and dust like that at this place is when you run on the infield.
“I know that Luke doesn’t race like that but in my view he clearly passed me on the infield. In my opinion that move cost us this race.”
Dillon meanwhile was having none of it post-race, dedicating the win to his team.
“This is a win for my guys,” he said.
“I can’t thank them enough for how hard they’ve been working to get us up the front each night. It’s so good to finally get this.”
Jamie Veal and points leader James McFadden completed the top four ahead of Shane Stewart and Luke Oldfield.
McFadden now leads the standings by 95 points over Dillon with four rounds remaining.
A dismal ninth place run has seen Steven Lines drop to third, while Tatnell continues in fourth.
The series continues with the George Tatnell Cup meeting at South Australia’s Speedway City on February 8.
