Iconic V8 Supercars team Jim Beam Racing is set to revise its livery ahead of next weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
The team, which took James Courtney to the 2010 V8 Supercars Championship title, ran its two cars in a partially branded state at a final pre-Bathurst test at Queensland Raceway yesterday.
While JBR representatives are refusing to comment on the changes, Speedcafe.com understands that the livery revision will correspond with a new Jim Beam promotion.
The move will mirror that undertaken by the sponsor in 2007, when the team’s regular season livery was replaced with a black look promoting its ‘Zero Sugar Cola’ range from the Bathurst 1000 onwards.
With the new livery not set to be revealed until next week, team owner Dick Johnson gave nothing away when quizzed on his car’s testing look.
“It’s a complete mystery to us too,” Johnson told Speedcafe.com.
“If anyone finds and returns a missing section of our branding, we will gratefully reward them with a six pack of Jim Beam White & Cola.”
The Ford squad will hope to bounce back from a difficult weekend at Phillip Island, where its entries driven by James Moffat/Matthew Halliday and Steven Johnson/David Besnard finished 25th and 26th respectively.
