Dunlop will celebrate the 50th year of touring car endurance racing at Bathurst with unique branding on its tyres and winner’s caps at next month’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Every new Dunlop control tyre that is used by the cars competing in ‘The Great Race’ will feature a small ’50 years’ stamp, as pictured right.
Dunlop Motorsport manager Kevin Fitzsimons says that the branding is the tyre giant’s way of celebrating the historic occasion.
“This is our way to contribute to the 50th year of the event,” Fitzsimons told Speedcafe.com.
“Dunlop has been involved in the race since day dot, so we thought it would be a nice little touch for what is going to be a very significant weekend for the sport.
“It’s only a small little thing, but it’s our way of marking the occasion.”
The control tyre supplier to the V8 Supercars Championship since 2002, Dunlop is the winningest tyre company in the history of the Bathurst race, racking up its 25th victory last year.
The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is the next event on the V8 Supercars calendar, to be held on October 4-7.
