Eggleston Motorsport will run three cars in next year’s Dunlop Series after purchasing the 2010 Bathurst winning Triple Eight Holden currently raced by Casey Stoner.
Stoner is having his last V8 Supercar race this weekend before taking a sabbatical from the sport.
The Eggleston team already owns two ex-Triple Eight Commodore chassis; one of which has won races in the second-tier series this year in the hands of Jack Perkins.
“We are going out to win the Dunlop Series in 2014 and want to be the benchmark team in the category,” said Eggleston team manager Rachael Wagg.
“We’ve secured two very good cars for the V8 Touring Car Series as a launch pad for the Dunlop Series and now securing this car from Triple Eight is the next step for our program.
“We’ve been able to get some runs on the board this year with plenty of podium finishes in the Dunlop Series and prove our capabilities. Next season is all about building on that.”
Eggleston’s latest purchase was shared by Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife to lead home a Triple Eight one-two in the 2010 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Lowndes set what is currently the V8 Supercar practice lap record in the car on the Friday of the event, stopping the clocks at 2m06.80s.
The team will not take delivery of the car from Triple Eight until the new year.
