The 30-year-old, from Sydney, is accused of attacking the woman after a cocktail gathering at the Schumacher family’s Gland mansion in November 2019.
Mawson has denied the allegations, according to The Sun, maintaining the encounter was consensual.
The court in Nyon heard the nurse had been working a demanding schedule caring for the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, who requires constant medical attention following his 2013 skiing accident.
After finishing a shift, she joined colleagues in the property’s billiard room, where Mawson was present.
Giving evidence, the woman described her condition that evening, telling the court: “It was my sixth consecutive workday. I hadn’t had time to eat and was tired. At some point, I was relieved.”
After consuming several drinks, she began to feel unwell and was unable to remain upright, according to the indictment.

Colleagues assisted her to a bedroom, where she was placed on the bed “without undressing her” and left to rest.
Prosecutors allege Mawson later returned to the room and assaulted the woman twice while she was unconscious. The court heard she woke the following morning naked, with no memory of what had occurred.
She recalled a subsequent conversation with a colleague, telling the court: “[One of the medics] told me I was completely drunk and that they, along with Joey, had carried me upstairs.
“I asked him if I had gone to bed naked, because I had woken up naked. He said he had left the light on because he was worried.
“Because I had been unconscious, he had asked Joey to check on me. When I asked him if anything had happened, he said ‘no’.”
Medical evidence presented to the court indicated blood was found on the bedding, while injuries were said to be consistent with restraint. The nurse later underwent hospital examinations.
Messages allegedly sent by Mawson after the incident were also read in court, including an apology in which he wrote: “I’m so sorry from the bottom of my heart. I’m so sorry for the pain I’m causing you.”
He added: “I hadn’t realised how drunk I actually was. It wasn’t until the next morning that I realised how drunk I had been. During the night, I had assumed she was less drunk than I realised the next morning.”
Mawson disputes the allegations, stating the interaction was consensual and claiming the pair had previously shared a kiss during a night out in Geneva. The nurse has rejected any suggestion of a close relationship.
The court also heard that no members of the Schumacher family were present at the residence at the time of the alleged incident, and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing by them.
The woman did not immediately pursue legal action, with proceedings initiated in 2022.
She had been dismissed from the Schumacher medical team in October 2020, less than a year after the alleged events.
The case is being heard in Nyon following an indictment issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the District of La Cote, with both Mawson and the alleged victim attending the trial.
