Triple Eight has taken the wraps off its army-inspired Car of the Future Commodore VE – the first genuine COTF chassis.
The new chassis was photographed last night and will get its first hit-out in anger after the Coates Hire Ipswich 300 at Queensland Raceway this Monday.
The unveiling of the car makes the champion Holden squad the first V8 Supercars team to complete the build of a new-generation car.
With some technical regulations are still to be finalised and teams waiting for a number of control items to become available, this car does not meet the final specification that the cars will compete in next year. However, it will allow the team to begin development work on certain aspects of the car.
It is expected that some of the other accredited Car of the Future builders will begin to roll their first COTFs in September.
Triple Eight’s first COTF is one of nine new cars the team will build between now and the start of the 2013 season. The team is also building Commodore VFs for Tekno Autosport and Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.
The T8 chassis will be on display at Queensland Raceway over the course of the weekend.
