Tru-Blu is back at Mount Panorama, 32 years after becoming a rock star.
The Dick Johnson Racing team has transformed the #17 Team Norton Falcon into the Tru-Blu car overnight, depicting the car that Johnson drove at Bathurst in the early 1980s.
James Moffat and Alex Davison will drive the car in today’s Great Race.
Ironically, it will only be the second time in almost 35 years that a ‘Johnson’ has not raced the #17 at Mount Panorama. Steve Johnson, who regularly competes with #17, switches to Moffat’s #18 for Bathurst only.
Moffat will start from 17th after a wild Friday qualifying session that saw him push to the limit. The entry’s pre-race preparation was hampered by a tailshaft failure in Practice 6 that meant the car only completed one lap.
Morning warm-up commences at 7.30am, ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 at 10.30am.
