French Formula E team signs Buemi, Prost

Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost join the e.dams Renault Formula E squad

Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost join the e.dams Renault Formula E squad

Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost will spearhead the e.dams-Renault team for the upcoming maiden season of the FIA Formula E Championship.

The driver signings come as the series’ founding technical partner, Renault, was named as title sponsor for the squad which is now known as e.dams-Renault.

Alain Prost, co-owner of e.dams-Renault and ambassador for the Renault brand, said: “Jean-Paul Driot and I are delighted to be associated with Renault in this new adventure.

“The choice of Renault as a major partner was a natural step because of the exceptional record it has carved out in motorsport, as well as its unique expertise in the field of electric vehicles.

“Personally, I am thrilled by the idea of working with Renault on such an ambitious project again and by the prospect of writing a new chapter of our association.

“We are actively preparing for the first races of the season. This week’s test at Donington Park is the next step in that process and it will be followed by a busy summer in order to be ready and competitive for the first ePrix in Beijing, on September 13.

TrulliGP has signed Michela Cerruti who will join team namesake Jarno Trulli as the full line-up continues to take shape.

Cerruti is the second female driver to sign for the electric series following Katherine Legge’s confirmation at Aguri.

Meanwhile in other FE developments, the season finale will be at Battersea Park in London for the June 27, 2015, event.

London’s high profile mayor Boris Johnson was bristling at the news by saying it solidifies the city to stage big international sporting events.

Formula E continues to fine-tune rules ahead of the opening round in Beijing, China, on September 13.

An online fan vote that will close before each race will now see the three most popular drivers receive increased boost of 200kW (270bhp) up from 133kW (180bhp).

The 10-round championship begins in Beijing, China, on September 13.
