American Speedway icon, Greg Hancock has secured his third World Championship in Poland with a 13 point haul, although it was a mixed night for the Australian competitors.
Chris Holder – buoyed by the news that next year’s Title will climax in Melbourne – ended his Championship seventh with 100 points and therefore has qualified for next year’s Title race with his seven point haul in Torun.
The news wasn’t so positive for Queenslander, Troy Batchelor. After scoring six points from his five rides, Batchelor fell an agonising seven points outside the top eight qualification zone. He will have to rely on a Wildcard entry to be part of next year’s Speedway Grand Prix World Championship.
Krzysztof Kasprzak took the Grand Prix victory and secured second position on the Championship table.
Nicki Pedersen finished the Championship equal on points with Tai Woffinden – who still finished equal third despite being ruled out through injury over recent rounds.
Matej Zagar, second placed man Andreas Jonsson, Holder and Jarek Hampel completed the top eight qualifiers.
But the spoils remain with Hancock, who becomes the first American to be a three time World Speedway Champion.
