Australian operation Hobson Motorsport has confirmed plans to field a pair of privately run Nissan GT-Rs in the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Australian GT Championship next year.

Former Dunlop Series racer Brett Hobson has purchased two GT-Rs from the American Always Evolving squad which currently fields the cars in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Hobson has enlisted the services of David Wall’s Wall Racing outfit to run the cars in the Mount Panorama endurance classic.

The squad has already submitted its entry to Bathurst 12 Hour organisers and also intends to race in next year’s Australian GT and Australian Endurance Championships.

The Bathurst 12 Hour entry will compete against a factory Nissan program at the February 3-5 endurance race.

Hobson is locked in to pilot one of the cars with Wall among the contenders to join the roster.

“These cars have an incredible pedigree, yet have been a rare sight on the Aussie circuit in recent decades with the Australian people only getting a taste of them during the Bathurst 12 Hour event,” said Hobson.

Experienced driver and now team owner Wall is looking forward to expanding his current operation, which has fielded two Class B Porsches in the 12 Hour over recent years.

“The opportunity to run the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars in Australia is very exciting for the team,” said Wall.

“We can’t wait to be involved and work with a global brand such as Nissan.

“To be able to step up to four cars and work with a Nissan is an exciting step forward for the growth of our team.

“Not since 2011 have we been in the outright class for the 12 Hour, finishing fourth.

“It is going to be great to be back not only in the outright class but also to back it up in Class B once again.

“We have a busy schedule over the next couple of months as we start planning for the event and finalising our driver line-ups.

“The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 cars have had success at the Bathurst 12 Hour over the past two years and we look to continue that success in 2017.”

Hobson Motorsport is expected to take delivery of the cars in December following a full rebuild to be undertaken by AIM Autosport in Canada.
