Lee Holdsworth admits that being V8 Supercars’ most sought-after 2012 driver has been more stressful than he expected.
After just returning from a two week break in the United States, Holdsworth has returned to a frenzy of pit lane speculation at Queensland Raceway.
Holdsworth has held his current role at Garry Rogers Motorsport for six years, but the 28-year-old appears unlikely to stay. While heavily linked to Ford Performance Racing’s Rod Nash entry, seats at Stone Brothers Racing, Walkinshaw Racing and Paul Morris Motorsport are also available.
While happy to feel wanted, Holdsworth admits to feeling the heat from being the silly season kingpin.
“I thought I’d enjoy it more, but to be honest, it has been fairly stressful,” Holdsworth told Speedcafe.com.
“I’ve never had to make a decision like this before. This decision really determines the next phase of my career.
“The quicker I get this behind me, the less media talk and the less distractions. I guess I’d like to have a decision soon. I’m not sure when.”
Holdsworth confirmed that he has two teams in the frame.
“I haven’t made a decision yet, but I’ve narrowed it down to a couple teams,” he said.
“I’ve got to make a decision pretty soon. I’m try to keep it all out of my head and do the best I can.”
Holdsworth finished seventh and 11th at Queensland Raceway yesterday.
