The series and its local broadcaster FOX had hoped for record viewership off the back of the FIFA World Cup final. However, rain arrived just before the race was scheduled to start.
Efforts to dry the track were undone when a band of bad weather brought a deluge to the superspeedway.
It was decided shortly after that the race would instead take place a day later than initially planned.
The Music City Grand Prix at Nashville will get underway on Tuesday at 5:00am AEST with live coverage on Stan Sport.
Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood is set to start from pole position alongside Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden.
Scott McLaughlin will line up in third for Team Penske alongside four-time champion Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon will start fifth while Kiwi countryman Marcus Armstrong will start eighth for Meyer Shank Racing.
