The official announcement of Russell Ingall’s move to Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport for the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship will take place in Melbourne this morning.
Key supporters of the program are expected to be revealed at the launch, which will kick-off from 1000 EDT.
The deal will see Ingall compete in the category for a 19th consecutive season, further extending his current benchmark of most event starts in the history of the Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars Championship.
Ingall has spent the last three seasons at Walkinshaw Racing and is winless since his championship year with Stone Brothers Racing in 2005.
This morning’s announcement will also confirm LDM’s downsizing to a single car structure following an expansion to two cars for 2013.
The squad has endured a rocky history since joining the championship four years ago.
It debuted two new Triple Eight built Holdens to much promise last season, but saw its technical support program with the category’s benchmark team concluded before the end of the year.
Race engineer Brendan Hogan, who worked alongside Scott Pye in 2013, is expected to stay on with the team for Ingall’s campaign, while any additions to the squad are currently unclear.
The car that Ingall will drive is understood to have received a freshen-up at Nissan Motorsport’s Braeside, Melbourne, headquarters over the off-season.
