Defending WSS champion James McFadden wrapped up the final Enzed WSS Speedweek night of competition at Premier Speedway in Warrnambool.

The Totally Workwear #25 Cool Chassis driver ran away from his rivals to win the 35-lap A-main and wrench the Speedweek title from Luke Dillon.

“The car was fast in the shootout (Vortex Race Products Top 8),” the Queensland-based Northern Territorian McFadden said.

“And when we got my Kyle (Hirst) in the A-Main I was pretty sure we had the car speed to go on with the job.”

McFadden pockets a cool $25,000 for his efforts – $10,000 for each win at Mt Gambier and Warrnambool and a $5000 bonus as Speedweek champion.

Early leader Hirst finished second ahead of Daniel Pestka with Shane Stewart fourth while David Murcott was fifth.

Hirst praised the efforts of McFadden. “I haven’t seen much of James racing before this week but he’s very, very good. When he went by me on the bottom I knew I was going to have a difficult time getting back by,” Hirst said.

“So I’m just really pleased for the Ruhs boys and grateful for this opportunity to race with everyone in these World Series deals.”

South Australian Pestka was delighted at his career best podium effort.

“Before the night I thought I’d be happy just to roll the car back into the hauler without any damage at the end of the racing and leave for Brisbane but this is definitely a huge bonus,” Pestka said.

Dillon finished seventh after charging from the rear after being caught up in a spectacular four-car crash that took out Jason Johnson, Stephen Bell and Darren Mollenoyux on the opening lap.
