Jamie Whincup will start Race 8 of the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship from pole position at the Trading Post Perth Challenge.
The TeamVodafone driver pipped Race 7 winner Mark Winterbottom by just 0.003s with two of the session’s minutes remaining.
Winterbottom will share the front-row with his Holden rival, while Will Davison, Lee Holdsworth, Jason Bright, David Reynolds, Tim Slade, Fabian Coulthard, Michael Patrizi and Jonathon Webb complete the top 10.
Race 8 qualifying was held on the hard compound tyres, while the soft-only Race 9 qualifying will take place after a 10 minute interval.
