John Martin has continued his international exploits with a good showing for Alan Docking Racing in the World Endurance Championships at Sao Paulo this weekend.
Driving the Oreca 03 Nissan in the LMP2 Class, Martin managed to finish fifth in class and 12th overall with co-drivers Jan Charouz ad Tor Graves.
The race was won by the Toyota TS030 of Alexander Wurz and Nicolas Lapierre (LMP1), while Vicente Potolicchio, Ryan Dalziel, Stéphane Sarrazin steered their HPD ARX 03b to the win in LMP2.
Starting from second in the LMP2 class, Martin progressed well until the team hit trouble just 20 minutes into the six hour event.
“The race started really well, everything was going to plan until lap thirteen; unfortunately the left front wheel came off which cost us a lot of time,” said Martin.
“I was able to get the car back to the pits and the team did a great job repairing the damage.
“After loosing so many places I was on a mission to try and get back to the front.
“Although I am a little disappointed with the result we have still managed to come away with some decent points.”
The next round of the World Endurance Championship takes place on September 29 with the 6 Hours of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit.
