The annual karting Dash for Cash held in the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder in West Australia will have two international drivers compete next month.
Organised by V8 Supercars driver Michael Patrizi, the Dash for Cash's blue ribbon event – The KZ2 Invitational – will see Italian Roberto Tonninelli and Dutchman Joey Hanssen join an impressive 30 kart field under lights.
Tonninelli will compete with the Birel Motorsport team, while 2011 KZ2 World Cup winner Hanssen will drive a Lenzo – both racing for their chance to win a share in the $10,000 prize pool.
The pair will race against Australian stars Matt Wall, Kyle Ensbey, Lee Mitchner, Ricky Capo, Jason Faint, Kel Treseder and Jason Pringle are confirmed for the event.
Along with the international drivers, two further special guests of the karting world will be attend. Birel owner Ronni Sala and Japanese ‘Super Dealer' Tadashi Sasaki will be present at the popular Kalgoorlie/Boulder event.
Patrizi is overwhelmed by the turn out for the 2012 race.
“It's just unbelievable what this race has turned into,” Patrizi said.
“We had an owner of another manufacture in Italy call last week asking how he can get his team to the event. Time might be against us there, but 2013 is already ramping up.
“This race gives the guys in Australia the opportunity to race against some of the best in the world, and the young kids to see the drivers they look up to. A lot of drivers don't get this opportunity.
“I'm lucky as it's part of my job, so I'm happy I can assist in making this a reality for others, it's all for the sport, the sport of karting that I just love.”
The Dash for Cash will be held on November 10-11.
