Two races and three points stand between Peter Hackett and Klark Quinn in the fight for the 2012 Australian GT Championship – protected by Sargent Security.
Quinn, driving his Sargent Security Racing Porsche GT3-R, scored his second win for the weekend at the Surfers Paradise circuit, never challenged from pole during the 30 minute race.
Quinn was followed home by Erebus Racing’s Peter Hackett who just couldn’t quite match the Porsche’s outright speed in his Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3.
The championship will go down to the wire at the Sydney Telstra 500 in early December, with just three points separating the pair.
Quinn was stoked with the way his meeting turned out.
“We couldn’t have asked for better this weekend” said Quinn.

“I love it here and it suits the characteristics of the Porsche too. I had a couple of minor moments where had to calm down and clean the tyres up but other than that it was a trouble free weekend.”
After his accident in yesterday’s race, Thomas Jaeger fought through in his Mercedes to take third place, ahead of Rod Salmon in his One World Bar Audi R8 LMS. Michael Almond rounded out the top five. in his Copyworld Racing Porsche 997 GT3.
The Maranello Racing duo of Ferrari’s had a dismal weekend with the Il Bello Rosso Ferrari 458 GT3 of Peter Edwards/John Bowe striking problems soon after their pit stop. On the penultimate lap, team’s second car of Nick O’Halloran/Allan Simonsen stopped due to gearbox failure.
