The livery that Marcos Ambrose’s wildcard entry will carry in the Sydney NRMA 500 is set to be unveiled at Lakeside Raceway, north of Brisbane, next Friday.
The team has confirmed that the car will be resplendent in its race livery for the November 21 ride day, which will mark Ambrose’s first drive of a V8 Supercar in nine years.
The #66 wildcard, expected to sport one of Penske’s own brands for the event, will race alongside DJR’s two existing Wilson Security entries in Sydney.
Ambrose’s car is then likely to boast a number of different primary sponsors throughout next season.
Dick Johnson told Speedcafe.com that the public will be welcome to attend the November 21 launch and ride day.
“I’d suspect there’ll be a few people out there,” he said.
“It’s amazing the interest that the whole thing (Ambrose and Penske joining DJR) has created and I’d imagine that there’ll be a few people having the Friday off to come down.”
DJR this year undertook a pre-season ride day at Lakeside, which has not hosted a V8 Supercars Championship round since 1998.
The circuit was DJR’s long-time testing venue before falling off the V8 Supercars calendar and holds a special place for the team and its principal.
“These cars would be absolutely amazing around there,” he said.
“Unfortunately the track and facilities don’t lend themselves to holding a race meeting there now, but it’s still one of the most exhilarating tracks this country has got.”
Ambrose will use the day to reacquaint himself with V8 Supercars machinery before undertaking two full test days at Queensland Raceway in the lead-up to Sydney.
