Le Brocq set for Supercars wildcard rounds

Le Brocq set for Supercars wildcard rounds
Jack Le Brocq will campaign a Nissan Altima in the Dunlop Super2 Series as well as a least two wildcard entries in the main game

Jack Le Brocq will be on double duty in the Supercars Series and the second tier category in an elaborate campaign launched by Nissan Motorsport.

While Le Brocq will run the GoGetta Racing Nissan Altima in all of the renamed Dunlop Super2 Series rounds, he will also run in up to two Supercars main game events under a wildcard entry.

It marks the first time Nissan will be represented by a second-tier entry with the Altima to be run by Matthew White Racing in the Super2 Series as well as the Supercars rounds.

From this year a team can run an eligible driver in up to four rounds of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship outside of the long established option to run a wildcard in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

It is believed that Le Brocq will almost certainly compete at the Coates Hire Ipswich Super Sprint from July 28-30 and either one of the Perth, Darwin or Winton rounds.

He will contest the events in his Super2 Series Altima which will be specced-up to compete in the main game.

The multi-dimensional program will see Le Brocq take-up the newly created ‘reserve driver’ role which will see him fully integrated into the Nissan team’s Supercars program.

He has also been confirmed as Todd Kelly’s co-driver for the Pirtek Enduro Cup campaign in the Carsales-backed Altima.

“To be offered an opportunity to join the factory Nissan program in this way is awesome,” Le Brocq said.

“Being the first to race an Altima in the Dunlop Super2 Series is fantastic and the program with Nissan Motorsport is truly integrated. Having driven for Matt White previously (2015), I know we have every chance of winning the title.

“Add in co-driving duties with Todd (Kelly) in the enduros, a couple of wildcard races and total integration into the factory program and there’s a lot to look forward to.”

The 25-year-old finished second to his Prodrive Racing team-mate Garry Jacobson in the Dunlop Series last year despite hauling in seven wins, the series pole award and three clean sweep rounds.

“We had a great season last year and easily won the most races, but weren’t as consistent as we should have been, and just missed out on the title,” Le Brocq said.

“I want to put that right this year, and repay the faith put in me by GoGetta and our many other supporters.”

Todd Kelly confirmed that Le Brocq will be hands-on with the main game operation.

“Jack’s job will be to learn everything he can about the cars and our program,” Nissan Motorsport team owner Todd Kelly said.

“He’ll have a head start, of course, with the Dunlop Super2 Series program and we will collaborate very closely on that throughout the season.

“But as ‘reserve driver’ Jack will be across everything we do, from our development and testing program, to team briefings with our main series drivers and engineers.”

GoGetta Equipment Funding will again be the primary backer for Le Brocq’s 2017 campaign.

“Getting behind Jack a year ago was something completely new for our business but it’s been a huge success for us in every way,” GoGetta Equipment Fund sales and marketing manager Kevin Savvas said.

“Jack is a fantastic ambassador for GoGetta and has been embraced throughout our business … he’s made fans of people who barely knew motorsport existed.

“GoGetta is right behind Jack and is determined to see him fulfil his dreams in the sport.”

A second Nissan Altima will be run also Le Brocq’s car for the Super2 Series for a yet-to-be-named driver.
