Kristian Lindbom will step into the Kali Motorsort Commodore for the final round of the Dunlop Super2 Series this weekend in Newcastle.
Lindbom becomes the third driver to steer the fledgling team’s VF after Gerard McLeod drove in its debut outing in Townsville and Ricky Capo took the reins for Sandown.
The team elected to skip Bathurst as it sought to put together a budget, before Lindbom was called up to race the final round of 2018.
The 29-year-old last raced in Super2 in 2014.
“This weekend we’ve got Kristian Lindbom driving for the team,” confirmed McLeod, who runs the team, to Speedcafe.com.
“He’s raced Development Series before, he hasn’t raced for a few years but we had an opportunity to put him in the car.
“He’s been helping a few of our drivers this year with a bit of development remotely while we’ve been at the race meetings, and he’s a known talent from years ago, so it’s great to have him part of the team.”
Lucas Dumbrell is involved in Kali through its use of a former LDM car and its workshop, and Lindbom has previously driven for that outfit in Super2.
“He’s a good friend of Lucas Dumbrell’s and he’s raced for LDM before in Development Series, so he’s familiar with Supercars,” noted McLeod.
“He did a really good job last time when he was competing full-time for Evans Motorsport so it’ll be good to have him in the car and supporting the team.”
Chris Pither leads the Super2 Series as 125 points cover the top four, with the final round to kick off with opening practice tomorrow from 1045 local time/AEDT.
