Organisers of the LMP3 Cup Australia have announced the appointment of Tony Manson as category manager.
It marks the first staffing appointment for the new series which is scheduled to begin competition in 2020.
Manson comes with experience from events such as Top Gear Live, Ken Block Gymkhana, and Red Bull X-Fighters World Final, and has held management roles across a number of different motorsport organisations in Australia, the USA, and UK.
“This is another important milestone for this exciting new category in Australia,” said LMP3 Cup Australia non-executive director Chris Papadopoulos.
“We knew it was critical for us to get the right category manager in place, a strong leader who understands motorsport business and management to ensure the LMP3 Cup will deliver on all points for the competitors.
“With over 30 years of experience in motorsport, from karting to Supercars via the top levels of European and American racing, Tony’s CV is obviously very impressive and we know his warm and concise approach will be well received in the paddock.
“We think Tony will prove to be a great asset to the series. and we are confident that he is the right choice to lead the category into the 2020 season.”
Manson will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the category and will help the continued build-up for the series before looking after key elements such as race formats, schedule, managing entries, and more.
He will also work closely with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) which oversees LMP3 racing globally, with series staff set to receive training from the ACO ahead of the opening round.
