Lucky 7 has been confirmed as the major backer of Tim Slade’s #47 Falcon for the 2011 V8 Supercar Championship, replacing Wilson Security.
The Australian convenience store chain steps up to naming rights sponsorship having entered the sport as an associate sponsor of all three Stone Brothers Racing entries this season.
The team will now be officially referred to as Lucky 7 Racing.
South Australian businessman James Rosenberg will remain the owner of the #47 car and license, while SBR has taken over the commercial dealings related to the entry – including Slade’s driving contract.
Having moved to the team after a rookie season with Paul Morris Motorsport, Slade finished 16th in the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship, with a best result of fifth in Phillip Island’s L&H 500.
Team principal Ross Stone said that the expansion of Lucky 7’s involvement is an exciting development for SBR.
“It’s great to be associated with a brand like Lucky 7 that is expanding very quickly,” he said.
“We have enjoyed and developed a great relationship with them this year and after one season with SBR to be stepping up to title sponsor of the #47 car is exciting for all of us.
“Next year will be Tim Slade’s second year with us and after qualifying twice in the top ten at Sydney I think that we, together with Lucky 7 can all really look forward to next year.”
Craig Matthews, National Marketing Manager of Lucky 7, said that the V8 Supercar fan demographic is a perfect fit with the company’s sponsorship objectives.
“With 60% of viewers aged between 18 and 44, it stands to reason that the fans who watch V8 Supercars are the same fans who call on our Lucky 7 convenience stores,” said Matthews.
“We are extremely happy with our Stone Brothers Racing sponsorship and we look forward to a great year in 2011.”
Peter Dubbelman, CEO of Campbells Wholesale says the exposure for Lucky 7 sets it apart from their competitors.
“Our confidence in the growth of Lucky 7 is evidenced by the ongoing investment in the brand,” said Mr Dubbelman.
“Our association with SBR has been pleasing and we look forward to the 2011 season where our convenience retailers will receive even greater consumer exposure through our exclusive Lucky 7 V8 Supercar.”
