Mahindra has tested a futuristic front wing set to feature in the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2016/2017 campaign.
The Indian squad showcased the radical new design in a test at Spain’s Calafat circuit ahead of its planned competitive launch later this year.
Formula E’s decision to homologate a new bodykit for season three is for aesthetic reasons rather than generating more downforce.
The new front wing is the first stage of move to a completely new ‘futuristic’ chassis which is set to be launched for the 2018/2019 season.
Alongside the new chassis, cars will be fitted with a new and improved battery allowing a single car to complete the scheduled race distance.
Currently drivers are required to make a mandatory car swap during races.
