Cameron McConville will replace Daniel Gaunt in the Gulf Western Oils Commodore VE in next weekend's Sucrogen Townsville 400.
McConville, who will drive for the Toll Holden Racing Team in the V8 Supercars endurance races this year, has been drafted in to replace the rookie Kiwi for first-year V8 team Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport.
To replace McConville's ride in the JAX Quickfit Tyres Commodore VE in the Fujitsu V8 Series will be fellow Walkinshaw Racing-contracted endurance driver Craig Baird.
It will be McConville's first race in the main V8 series since he retired from full-time racing at the end of last year's V8 Championship.
Baird has not raced a V8 since last year's endurance races. He partned Paul Dumbrell in the WR-prepared Autobarn Commodore VE.
Gaunt is a rookie in the V8 Supercars Championship Series and currently runs 24th in points. Of the four rookies in the championship (Jonathon Webb, Gaunt, Karl Reindler and Tony Ricciardello), Gaunt is second best-placed in title.
Dumbrell, Gaunt or McConville could not be contacted by Speedcafe.com.au.
