James McFadden took back-to-back World Series Sprintcar victories with a storming drive at Borderline Speedway.
McFadden’s major Series rivals encountered problems, enabling the Monte Motorsports #W17 to stretch his lead in the championship to 147 points.
Qualifying second after being one of three drivers to break the 11s barrier (along with Jason Johnson and Steven Lines), McFadden had a third and a fourth in the heats and started the A-Main third.
After lying in fourth in the middle part of the race, McFadden burst into contention with a brave move that saw him blast underneath Brooke Tatnell and Steven Lines to take second.
The major incident of the race occurred on lap 14 when runaway leader Jason Johnson tangled with Rory Button while lapping the S57 car.
This left a hard charging Tatnell with nowhere to go. The W2 Krikke Motorsport machine suffered front right damage as he piled into the accident scene.
The next 12 laps saw Tatnell performing near-miracles with his ailing car, dropping to fourth but still managing to hold off an increasingly frustrated Jamie Veal who had moved up from a grid 10 start and was looking to improve further.
Veal’s prayers were answered when Tatnell’s race came to an end with an unassisted tip over in Turn 2, closing the field up for the final laps.
However, there were no major changes at the pointy end of the field, with McFadden leading home local hotshot Steven Lines, a consistent Luke Dillon, Veal and Daniel Harding.
The next round of the series is at Avalon Raceway on December 30.
