Michael Patrizi has secured pole position for Porsche Carrera Cup Australia’s Race 1 at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.
The West Australian posted the quickest lap time in the 20-minute session, scoring his first pole position for the season and securing an all-McElrea Racing from row for Race 1, with Jonny Reid in second.
“I’m very happy with pole position for today’s race,” said Patrizi.
“It’s been a while since I’ve topped the times in qualifying and it shows that all the hard with is starting to pay off.
“It’s great to see McElrea Racing on the front row of the grid. It’s the first of many rewards for my sponsors and team.”
Daniel Gaunt qualified third ahead of Ben Barker, Steven Richards, Craig Baird and Guest driver Mark Noske aboard the Bid4Jase.com Porsche.
Max Twigg was the leading Elite Class driver in eighth, with Theo Koundouris and Damien Flack rounding out the top 10.
