Juan Montoya has claimed victory in the individual section of the annual Race of Champions at Marlins Park in Miami.
After moving through the group stages, Montoya disposed of Travis Pastrana in the quarter final.
Pastrana had earlier taken wins over Sebastian Vettel, Helio Castroneves and Alex Rossi in Group A.
Montoya then took a controversial win over Felipe Massa in the semi-final in an ROC Buggy after the Brazilian was handed a 5s penalty after hitting a barrier.
Massa was fuming after the incident that saw Montoya take a win in the second encounter to book his place in the final.
Tom Kristensen moved into the final against Montoya after the nine-times Le Mans winner disposed of David Coulthard in their semi-final encounter, each driving the Mexican-built Vuhl 05. Kristensen and Coulthard had progressed after both taking two wins each in Group D.
In the final, Montoya and Kristensen started in Olsbergs MSE-built GRC Lites rallycross cars with the Colombian taking the opening match-race.
Kristensen was then unable to turn the tables on Montoya in a return run when the pair took charge of KTM X-Bows.
A nasty crash marred Group B action with Pascal Wehrlein’s Polaris striking Massa after the finish line with his machine flung violently into the barriers.
Both Wehrlein and his passenger escaped injury.
Massa had progressed from the group after sharing two wins with Montoya.
Group C was topped by Jenson Button who saw off Kyle Busch to book a place in the quarter finals before being eliminated by Kristensen.
The Nations Cup will be run tomorrow.
