The Alice Springs local dominated both days of racing to take his sixth victory in seven years.
Victory number six equals the record set by Toby Price, who went on to win a further three times on four wheels.
Walsh has said following his 2024 victory that equalling Price’s record was not a priority, stating “records aren’t something I care about to be perfectly honest.”
Switching to Honda for 2026, Walsh stunned by dominating on a 450cc bike, after several seasons riding KTM 500cc equipment.
“It’s been a crazy weekend,” Walsh said post-race on Monday.
“I want to give my hats off to my teammate Corey Hammond, he rode like hell yesterday, so big ups to him.
“I’m just really happy to get home in one piece and see my beautiful family.
“Yesterday it was pretty sketchy the whole way down, the track was pretty beat, so I didn’t really take the risks I normally did.
“I just got there safe, and then today it was just click into overdrive and cruise home.
“Just glad I had that buffer today to get home.”
Having not contested the 2025 running of the event, Walsh offered a candid insight to his plans for next year.
“I think I might enjoy camping with the family,” Walsh added.
Walsh led home a KTM quartet, with Campbell Hall crossing the line in second position.
Liam Walsh, cousin of the race winner, came home in third position ahead of brothers Kodi and Levi Stephens.
A broken chain on reigning winner Hammond’s Honda CRF450R saw the rider forced to push the bike almost 2km to the finish line on Day 1.
Hammond was the 10th rider to cross the line on Day 2, however the lost time the previous day saw him fall down the order.
