Tyler Everingham’s MW Motorsport Altima will sport a revised livery with the addition of R&J Batteries backing for the remainder of the Super2 season.

The Australian owned battery and oil distributor will take prime position on the #27 Altima from this weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 event, remaining onboard for the Sandown and Newcastle rounds.

Everingham won last year’s Kumho Tyre Super3 Series and achieved a pair of top 10 finishes last time out at Queensland Raceway, his first such showing in the Dunlop Super2 Series.

The 18-year-old has not raced a Supercar at Mount Panorama before, but finished second in class in last year’s Bathurst 12 Hour when he shared a MARC Car with former MWM drivers Garry Jacobson and Grant Denyer.

“It’s great to have R&J Batteries join our team for the biggest races of the Super2 season,” said team owner Matthew White.

“This is actually the second time that R&J has backed our team. They were with us when Jack Le Brocq was driving for us, so it’s always a pleasure to have a company return to our fold.

“Tyler has been improving leaps and bounds this year. He is still only 18 years old and is learning all of the time. He’s a very realistic young racer and I feel that he is getting ready to start pushing towards the front of the field.”

Everingham is currently 14th in the Super2 Series, which is topped by team-mates Bryce Fullwood and Zane Goddard after Round 4 of seven.

A 16-car field is set to take to Bathurst this weekend, with Practice 1 on Thursday at 1425 local time/AEDT and Super2’s own, 250km enduro race on Saturday afternoon.
