Nicky Hayden has announced that Ducati have chosen not to retain his services beyond this season.
Ducati remains without a win in MotoGP since Casey Stoner stormed to victory at the 2010 Australian GP at Phillip Island.
Hayden, the 2006 MotoGP champion, confirmed that he has lost his ride with the Italian manufacturer ahead of the Laguna Seca round of the championship this weekend.
“I'm not coming back to Ducati in MotoGP. They've chosen to go a different way,” he said.
“Unfortunately these results the last few years haven't been what we hoped. Nobody likes to get sacked, but that's what happens.”
The American joined Ducati in 2009 after leaving Honda.
Hayden is not sure whether he will secure another ride in MotoGP.
