Australian Owen Kelly has topped the times in GT class in opening practice for this weekend’s Grand-Am sportscar event in Montreal, Canada.
The Tasmanian was the fastest GT entry aboard Marsh Racing’s #31 Corvette, which Kelly will share with Boris Said at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend.
Kelly then left driving duties to Said in Practice 2, where the car was again fastest.
The Jack Daniel’s Racing V8 Supercars endurance driver said that it was a positive start to the weekend.
“The car feels good to drive. The main thing I need to get used to is the brakes,” Kelly told Speedcafe.com.
“It’s a great car and great track. I’m pretty happy with how day one has turned out.
“We had a bit of a problem in the rear of the car in second practice but we will sort that out without too many dramas.”
A further hour of practice and qualifying will be held tomorrow (Friday Canadian time).
The Barbosa/France Porsche-powered Riley was on top in Practice 1 in outright prototype class, with Michael Shank Racing’s Negri/Pew Ford-powered Riley topping Practice 2 overall.
