David Reynolds will run with the backing of Penrite Oil as he switches to the Erebus Motorsport V8 Supercars operation this season.

Announced in a press release, Penrite will occupy the naming rights space on the #9 entry.

However Erebus has not yet disclosed whether it will switch marques and abandon its Mercedes bodywork and run what has been speculated as Walkinshaw Holdens in 2016.

Interestingly the release shot sees Reynolds standing beside his 2016 ride which remains cloaked in an Erebus cover.

Penrite’s naming rights deal co-incides with the firm’s 90th anniversary celebrations.

First seen on Erebus machines last year, the Penrite deal has been embraced by the team’s owner Betty Klimenko.

“Penrite is an Australian family owned and operated company and I am proud to have them as a primary partner,” Klimenko said.

“They really got involved last year and are as excited about racing as we are.

“Technically we also need to be working with performance partners that appreciate the demands of motorsport as Penrite does.”

Reynolds, who arrives at the squad following his excellent performance behind the wheel of the Bottle-O Ford last year, says he is looking forward to gelling with the company.,

“It’s terrific news that Penrite is increasing their support for this year,” Reynolds said.

“I’ve met with Penrite and they are a great bunch of people and I already feel that we get on well, so I’m really looking forward to working with them.”
