The 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is proving to be the most unpredictable yet having welcomed a record eight different winners from nine races.
The championship kicked off at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide with a dominant win from Red Bull’s Jamie Whincup in the opening race.
However, the Holden Racing Team’s James Courtney was next to visit the top step before Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport’s Nick Percat scored a shock win in a rain affected Clipsal 500 showpiece.
Symmons Plains welcomed another two drivers to the winner’s circle as Shane van Gisbergen claimed his maiden win for Red Bull, while Tenno Autosports’ Will Davison also paid a visit to the top step.
Volvo’s Scott McLaughlin remains the only driver to win more than one race this season after completing a clean sweep at Phillip Island.
Unpredictability returned at Barbagallo Raceway two weeks ago which saw Craig Lowndes and reigning champion Mark Winterbottom open their 2016 accounts to kick-start their title bids.
The wide-open start to the 2016 campaign has been replicated in the championship standings which has seen different leaders at the end of the four championship events.
