V8 Supercars have made some radical changes to the race schedules and formats in 2014.
Among the raft of changes which are designed to spruce up crowd and television interest is a shift to stage a handful of twilight races.
The opening 74-lap race at the Sydney grand finale event earlier last month finished after 7pm.
The trial provided strong television ratings while the attendance at the circuit remained solid.
On the flipside the late finish put more of a strain on team resources with many of the squads working on their cars into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Although the exact schedules will not be bedded down until early in the New Year, it has already been flagged that up to six races on Saturday will finish in the twilight hours including the Clipsal 500.
The organisers have decided to split the opening 250km leg into 125km races with the latter race finishing after 7pm.
Are twilight finishes an answer to invigorating more interest and eyes on the series?
