Alexandre Premat has run off-track in Scott McLaughlin’s Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang at Queensland Raceway as a result of a brake problem.
Premat left the track at Turn 4 and traversed the infield, where the car’s front bar was pulled off in a ditch, before ending up at Turn 2.
A DJR Team Penske spokesperson has advised that the Frenchman was “a passenger” as a result of the brake issue, and reported that there was damage to the splitter, radiator, and bolt-on chassis rail extensions.
The car, which was towed back to the pits, is nevertheless expected to return to the circuit within the half-hour.
DJRTP is running three cars at today’s test, including a Mustang which has been fitted with a 2020-specification engine.
The Ford team is sharing the track with the Red Bull Holden Racing Team, Matt Stone Racing, and Kostecki Brothers Racing, the latter of which with its recently converted ZB Commodore ahead of wildcard starts in all three Pirtek Enduro Cup events.
An earlier version of this story stated that Premat left the track between Turns 1 and 2. This has now been corrected.
