Pretty quickest in SuperUtes Practice 2 with late effort

Nathan Pretty

Nathan Pretty was fastest in SuperUtes Practice 2 at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 after a late effort from the Bathurst 24 Hour winner.

Pretty (Holden Colorado) went to the top on his last flying lap of the 20-minute session, with the 2:42.427s effort putting him ahead of Elliot Barbour (Mitsubishi Triton) and Tom Alexander (Isuzu D-Max).

Cameron Crick (Mitsubishi Triton) set an early benchmark of 2:44.357s as the times improved through the session.

Pretty and Alexander both pipped Crick to go first and second respectively halfway through the hit out.

Graham Edwards had a wild moment at McPhillamy Park in his Mitsubishi Triton, sliding sideways through the gravel before gathering it up and rejoining the circuit.

Despite the trip through the gravel, Edwards managed to avoid the wall and continued to circulate for the remainder of the session.

Barbour went fastest in the closing minutes but was immediately displaced by Alexander who set a 2:42.782, putting him 0.5s in front.

A late effort from Pretty was enough to mix up the top three again, with his 2:42.427s lowering the SuperUtes practice record by a further 0.03s from Practice 1 earlier on Thursday.

Crick and Ben Walsh (Toyota Hilux) completed the top five, while joint series leader Ryal Harris finished 10th, 4.7s off the pace in his Mazda BT-50.

SuperUtes return for Armor All Qualifying on Friday at 0720 local time/AEDT.
