Prodrive gave V8 Supercars class clown David Reynolds a fitting send off in the Sydney Olympic Park paddock ahead of his move to Erebus for 2016.

Continuing an age-old motorsport tradition, Reynolds was ‘attacked’ by members of his Bottle-O crew as he said his goodbyes.

With arms and legs taped and ‘I need help’ written across his forehead, the driver was delivered to Erebus via a trolley jack.

The hijinks proved by far the most spectacular amid a sea of farewells ahead of widespread change to the V8 Supercars grid over the off-season.

Helped out of his tangle by girlfriend Tahan Lew and Erebus team owner Betty Klimekno, Reynolds said his crew had taken him by complete surprise.

“I was attacked and bound together by race tape,” Reynolds told Speedcafe.com as he received his shoes back from new champion Mark Winterbottom.

“I’d been just about to walk out and go home. I’d wish I’d done that a bit earlier.

“I took like six of them on and avoided it for a moment but there were too many of them.

“I was very, very helpless, but it’s all fun and games.”

Reynolds has been dropped by Prodrive after a four-year stint with the team that has culminated in a third place finish in this year’s championship.

He will move into the Erebus seat being vacated by Will Davison, who moves to Tekno Autosports.
