Prodrive Supercars driver Cameron Waters will join Strakka Racing for its debut at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour next year.
The Wilson Security Sandown 500 winner will pilot one of two Mercedes-AMG GT3s entered by the British operation at the Mount Panorama classic from February 2-4.
He will share the car with team founder Nick Leventis, former McLaren factory driver Lewis Williamson and Italian GT star David Fumanelli.
“I’m really excited about doing the 2018 Bathurst 12hr with Strakka Racing,” said Waters.
“It is a top-level team and I think we have a genuine shot at winning it.
“It’s also a race that I have always wanted to do and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity.”
Strakka Racing has recently moved to Mercedes after a difficult Blancpain GT campaign with McLaren.
The squad has however tested its new fleet at Silverstone and Barcelona in preparation for Bathurst.
Racing director Jay Davenport is glad to have secured Waters, who will be making his Bathurst 12 Hour debut next year.
“It’s great to have Cameron with us for our Mercedes-AMG debut,” said Davenport.
“Cameron recently secured his first Supercars victory and he is keen to share his knowledge of The Mountain, a track that’s new to Strakka.
“We know having Nick, Lewis and David in the same car worked well last season. Together with Cameron, this entry has a strong and competitive line up.
“The car has been perfect, it ran straight out of the box and both Lewis and Nick who have tested the car have both said it feels responsive and well-balanced.
“Bathurst is a competitive event and it has its own rules and regulations, so we aren’t expecting it to be easy.
“But that said, with the quality we have in the driver line-ups and with known reliability of the Mercedes-AMG cars, we are sure we have a chance to fight at the front.”
The squad is yet to confirm the line-up for its second Bathurst 12 Hour entry.
