Holden designer Peter Hughes has revealed two stunning throwback livery concepts produced for the Holden Racing Team ahead of this weekend’s Sandown retro round.

The factory Holden squad is the only multi-car Supercars team that has not dressed at least one of its entries in retro colours for the Wilson Security Sandown 500.

Hughes, who designs liveries for several teams as part of his role with Holden, has today posted graphics of two retro concepts on social media.

The designs show a tribute to the 1969 Bathurst 500 winning Holden Monaro of Colin Bond/Tony Roberts and to the HSV livery that was used by the factory-backed, Larry Perkins-run VL Commodores in 1988.

After running a number of different liveries throughout last season including a 1997 throwback in Townsville, the HRT and Holden made a joint decision against further changes this year.

The team has instead concentrated on improving its track performance ahead of Sandown, where Garth Tander and Warren Luff will begin their defence of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.
