Valentino Rossi has set the fastest time in MotoGP testing at Brno with his very late effort pipping Marc Marquez by 0.018s.
Rossi and his Movistar Yamaha team-mate Maverick Viñales finished the day first and third as the team tested a new aero fairing which they did not run in Sunday’s race.
Viñales had been fastest for most of the day.
Czech Grand Prix winner Marquez, who held top spot before Rossi’s last-minute flyer, ended up second fastest on a day in which Repsol Honda focussed particularly on electronics.
Fellow factory Honda rider Dani Pedrosa was seventh fastest.
The Ducati Team worked on its eye-catching aero fairing, with Jorge Lorenzo finishing the day in fourth and Andrea Dovizioso 11th, the Italian having used the fairing for the first time after only Lorenzo ran it during the race.
Jack Miller was 13th quickest on his Marc VDS Honda, one position behind team-mate Tito Rabat, as he tested a softer triple clamp.
MotoGP is in action again at this weekend’s (August 11-13) Austrian Grand Prix.
