The three-day task of scrutineering for the 2019 Dakar Rally has commenced in Peru’s capital of Lima.
A total of 334 vehicles have been entered for the event, and the scrutineering process at Las Palmas Air Base includes checks of competitors’ medical forms, navigation equipment, and safety equipment.
This year’s Dakar takes place in a loop solely within Peru.
There will be a ceremonial departure podium in Lima on January 6 (local time; Monday morning AEDT) before the field heads out for Stage 1 to Pisco the following day.
