Tim Slade is out to prove that his breakthrough Winton domination was no fluke when the Supercars Championship reconvenes in Darwin this weekend.
The Brad Jones Racing driver netted a sensational double win at Winton last time out to end a winless streak of 226 races.
Almost a month has passed since the triumph allowing Slade time to soak up the achievement.
The South Australian and BJR are tipped to shine at Hidden Valley, which features a similar high-grip track surface to Winton.
Last year Slade’s Freightliner Commodore qualified inside the top five for all three races and claimed a podium finish with Fabian Coulthard at the wheel.
Twelve months ago Slade secured three top 10 finishes at the venue including a second while driving for Walkinshaw Racing.
Although admitting his confidence levels have soared since Winton, he is not prepared to make any bold predictions.
“It is business as usual for everyone,” Slade told Speedcafe.com.
“The team has won before but for me it was my first win and like anything in life when you get results it builds confidence, so that is the only thing that is different with me.
“On paper it does (bode well for us),” he continued when asked of the circuit.
“The category is so competitive that it would take a very brave man to predict the results, but the history is there with the team and this style of circuit.
“I guess if it is going to happen anywhere for us and BJR with the cars currently where they are at, then it would be this type of scenario.
“We will go about our business as usual and hopefully it is a good weekend for us.”
Slade’s recent rise has been reflected in the betting odds for this weekend with the 30-year-old rated among the favourites to take out the opening race.
The BJR driver says he does not feel under more pressure to perform following his recent form.
“I will do my thing and there is nothing more you can do than that,” added Slade.
“I’m not going to put any unnecessary stress on myself because it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks.”
Opening practice for the CrownBet Darwin Triple Crown is scheduled to begin at 1125 local time.
